Miniature firearms: While I was browsing for something totally unrelated, I found this interesting site. http://www.kucer.homestead.com/files/Kcr_MinFK.html Marcie Van Deren |
Puffy Paints paint: I have had much better luck using Jel-pens, or Gel-pens, as they come in Gold and Silver, and work well on the leather straps when I am making Carpet-bags. The silver works well for studs or buttons, and doesn't rise up to a peak. These pens also come in white, and almost all other colors, can be found in any store that carries school supplies, or art craft supplies, Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, my local drugstore, etc. The colors and white work well for buttons when you need just that touch of extra trim. Spline used for rubber tires: I have been looking here and there around the house and wondering out loud where I could find some rubber tread to fix onto the wheels of a metal buggy I bought at Michael's. It was originally a Christmas ornament, and I have already taken off the carriage part, intending to replace it with a wicker basket. (I hope, if I can figure out how to do that.) Well, my husband came up with some extra spline that he had used to repair screen windows. He split them down lengthwise, wrapped them around the wire wheels, and PRESTO! Rubber baby buggy bumpers!! Now I just have to come up with the buggy part. Linda Barrett |
Queen Victoria Pictures: One of my favourite sites for pictures of Queen Victoria throughout her lifetime is http://www.victorianstation.com/queen.html I even have a miniature portrait doll of Queen Victoria at age 15 with her little dog Dash -- the picture appears on this site. Cheap UK miniatures: My local DH shop is The Dollshouse Emporium. They do an excellent catalogue packed full of goodies. Since I have become more adventurous I tend to regard them as "bread & butter pieces" but this is a bit unfair - I think they have so much that the reader gets overloaded. I have been known to buy a piece elsewhere or at a fair only to find that I had overlooked it in the Emporium Catalogue!! The catalogue is free http://www.dollshouse.com Sue C. Belper Derbyshire |

This book is now being sold by Edward R. Hamilton Books (website http://www.EdwardRHamilton.com) for a very low price of $6.95. It contains floor plans for the Petrie house from the Dick VanDyke Show; the Addams Family; I Love Lucy; the Honeymooners; and many others --40 floor plans in all. Handmade Rocking horses: The absolute best and most authentic handmade rocking horses I have seen are each individually carved and painted by Karen Fitzhenry from the UK. She uses real leather for the tack and shaves it very thin so it stays in scale. Her designs are authentic and working in everyway -- and varied -- not only does she have the common bowed rocking horses but she has Victorian safety stand horses, lovely pushorses, and hobby horses and more - -- check out her website at: http://www.karenfitzhenry.com Tracey Alan Meeker |
